Having a senior moment
Hi folks... We're doing a few lanes around and about, so if you feel like hooking up pls shout. No Like your idea Mr Spyderman, herts sounds good... will contact Urban DK to try to get Clive's no.

Cheers

Ryder

I've had contact from Jai Landrover, he's coming along, has a 90.
Plan might be to meet at Jansel House, on the A505 Stopsley Roundabout, Luton. On the Hitchin Road out of Luton, at 9.30 Sat 1st March. Head over to North Herts, do some lanes, probably most of what we did last week, plus I've found a few more. Go to the Fords at Furnaux Pelham & Standon. Finish up over there at about 3pm. Might find a Pub for lunch.

Sounds like a fine idea to me!

I too have heard from Jai Landrover. Invited him to join us for a conflab in this here post.

Here I am surrounded by Landys... and just to rub salt into the wound, my wife has started saying things like "We could fit us all into a Defender", and "You'd have to change the passenger seat and put one in like we had in our chevvy"

Bloody Typical.

Cheers

Ryder

Like I said before, wise woman your wife, you clearly need to listen to her advice more!

all the best urban

Another ford to try is Furneux Pelham a road running north from Furneux Pelam to Brent Pelam in Hertfordshire just West of Stansted Airport. called Voilets Lane. be warned not for the faint hearted or anyone with out a snorcal........... approx 1/2 mile long 4ft deep + in places....

I copied the above comment from a different post. Isn't this the ford you were suggesting we do on Saturday Spyderman? May I draw your attention to the section that says: "not for... anyone without a snorcal... 4 ft deep"
Now I don't want to sound chicken... but there may be a case for scuba gear as part of the recovery kit.... Ryder

Ryder,
Have a look at www.wetroads.co.uk or this page from the site: www.wetroads.co.uk
for details on Furneux Pelham and Standon.
Considering it hasn't really rained in weeks, I think we'll be fine. We'll send a small child through first to check the depths, then We'll send a Diesel through. Don't worry, there's a dive shop nearby, I'm sure they'll sell you a snorkel, maybe some flippers too. Clive said that he'd done it before and he was fine.

LOL I can just see my little shogun with sub aqua gear and flippers in place of tyres! Now that I'm keeping my eyes open for lanes they seem to be popping up all over the place. I've never noticed them before. Saw a couple on the lower luton road t'other side of wheathamsted today. One that ends up by some historical chimney looked wet and quite fun... (didn't make the mistake of going too far down it though!) OK I'm off to see those web sites you noted.

Went to look at a ford at Wheathamsted.... water was so low it didn't reach the road!

Cheers

Ryder

This site is great! I have no idea where you found it (well I know where[\B] you found it obviously but it was a stroke of luck!

Me and wangie46 did both standon and voilets lane last weekend in a 3.9 v8 & 4.6 v8 respectively without much bother, but with much wd40!.we both had the the trade sizes and both emptied em in a day. Also did Good Easter in essex short but good ford, although when we went through a disco had just been through and churned the bottom so it looked more shallow than it was!Although its raining here(Essex) now so maybe that'll effect levels and violets lane is a VERY long series of deep pools linked together they form a river.Steering did go light at one point but slow and stready wins the race!

If you think I'm driving to Wales and back in my Series, forget it, my back and ears couldn't stand it.

Thanks Spyderman for taking the lead today reading maps and driving is a right pain! I know I hate doing it! You managed it just fine though!

I for one had a great day out although a little wet! I did feel a little sorry for Ryder damn petrol engines! I praise the man that invented WD40!

I thought I'd better get out and attach a rope, I think it was one of the deepest parts of the ford typical! Next time it'll be usual rules: You get stuck! You get the rope on! But I think we all had a laugh, I will post some pics and vids soon, Jai

Oh next time I must bring my waders!

We could always trailer your series Spyderman.

OK I know I got stuck but in defense of my Shogun... even a landy would have had the same trouble were it a petrol engine... thanks to Jai for that little bit of info ... sure made me feel better!

Many thanks to Jai for getting me out of the puddle too! If I can ever return the favour you know I will!

So today's lesson boys and girls... (and those who aren't quite sure) when spyderman says "Ford" he means lake, and when he says "No problem", go directly to the scuba shop and attach an aqua lung to the air intake!

All in all it was a great day... how were the lanes after we left?

yeah wot jai said spyderman, well done much appreciated , exellent day , after doing violets 6 times , i think i've cleaned underneath well enough now !!! , morning ryder , all dry now are we he-he !!

Ha Ha... dry... knackered (good gig tonight) but the shogun has a slight misfire so new plugs and leads tomorrow methinks. Thanks for the pics, the most embarrasing is yet to arrive I am sure.

Spyderman I forgot to thank you for navigating. Cheers... an excellent job, certainly made it easy for the rest of us.
