Hi guy's,

I currently have a 300 td Xs being fitted with stainless full roof rack. The rack is being fitted with four spots to the front as additional lighting on a seperate switch from all standard lighting as fitted to the landy. Also I am fitting two work lamps to the rear of the rack in either corner to aid tent pitching during the night. These being on their own switch from the front ones.

Whilst i am an engineer day day i am NO electrician! Can anyone give me a correct wiring sketch or point me in the right dirrection for the best method.

Many regards,

Steve (ALCO262)

yoiu will need 2 wires, one black, one red, take source from the fuse box to a switch, then on the red wire ( live) you need to fit a relay to cope with the ammount of power that spot lights put out, then wire from the relay to the spot lights, repeat for work lights ;)

do a search for spot, aux lighting, roof lights etc and you will find loads of posts on this subject. i wired in mine not so long ago...

make sure you do a good job, cos i didnt.when i turn my roof lights on, my stereo goes off! doh!

Just like yella says for the wiring, the part numbers for the swiches you might wan't to use are,

Front lights - AMR4138 front fog switch (same as already fitted on an XS)
Work lights - AMR3751 rear fog switch (latching type)

Later models have AMR5178 (rear fog switch) fitted which is momentary contact and means more wiring, latching relay, etc. so use the earlier one.

Hope that helps,
Jon.

Kinnell floyd 40 quid for three relays a terminal strip and a sandwich box!!!!!!

depends on how many lights you want to run off it. you can run 2 spots off 1 30amp relay. or you can get a double relay (which is cheaper and easier than running 2 relays) for 4 spots, which is great if you have a roofbar with lights.

i dont think its recommended to run 4 lamps off 1 relay...

Know what you mean, but it cost 20 to make, 5 to post and ebay/paypal take another 5. One thing I will say though (even if I do say so myself), its bloody well made. ;)
