My P38 has been standing for a while. It was running fine several months ago. Battery is currently fully charged. It starts every time then after a few seconds it dies. My friendly garage had disabled the Engine security system for me when my key fob failed to transmit so all should be well. Could the standing and battery discharge have spoilt what the garage did? I just want to get it going so I can move it on. Last time it was running I got it MOT'd OK but I don't want to spend any more money on it.

a battery going flat and/or reconnecting the battery has been known to scramble the BECM, but I don't think that is the problem, sounds more like fuel starvation to me. what happens if you floor the throttle when it starts?

Have a listen at the fuel tank to hear if the in-tank pump charges the fuel system when the key is turned on before starting the engine 👍
