Right evening to anyone bored enough to read my cry for help. While ago I decided I was going to sell my beloved 110 ex mod. After viewing a few new suitors, on the way home slightly disheartened I decided to carry out my dream of sticking a V8 init instead. I will say its was a very spontaneous decision. Anyway cut forward to getting a reconditioned R380 and Lt230 and a freshly rebuilt 3.5 V8. The truck originally was a 2.5D believe called a 12j. With a lt77. After removing the transfer gearbox and engine we steamed cleaned all the engine bay and chassis shes looking beautiful. Skip forward abit, we have the engine and box together hanging off the hoist in the truck gearbox mounted on its original mounts in the original holes. The Gear linkage selector is basically fowling the tunnel and the engine is to far back in the engine bay. We havnt bolted the transfer on the back yet to see what the props are like yet. I'm hoping the props will be too long and will shunt the hole lot forward. My question is has anyone else done with conversion and pointers or tips are much appreciated many thanks,
A slightly disheartened Landrover owner..

v8 sits a couple of inches further forward than the lt77 and uses a different tunnel floor plates and props

Welcome:)

Sounds like you are enjoying yourself:).

You would do better to ask techy type questions in the defender section and add a few pics. Plenty of peeps have done it and it’s all doable don’t give up yet;) they will help.

Good luck.

Hi and welcome!

I’ve not done the conversion but others have. Lots of help in the Defender section.

Don’t forget some pics of the project.

Welcome @Probably over my head

i know the 2.5 N/A is under powered, most people convert to 200tdi or 300tdi...

But V8....lol

Get in the defender section where the knowledge is good and am sure as @jamesmartin said change the floor and god knows what else..
