Hi can someone please show me how the spark plug leads go from the dizzy to the spark plugs on a series 3 2.25 petrol pse.

Ive faffed about for hours to try and get it to fire using TDC, checking the dizzy drive as per manual. just need a picture of the actual set up. I think im 130 degrees out!

130 degrees out? Weird! With the leads misplaced you can only be either 90 degrees out or 180 degrees out!

Read this and realise you only have to alter the positions of the leads to the cap, at the cap, if they are out. 180 out is not uncommon, make sure the piston is on the compression, by either checking both valves are shut or removing a spark plug and putting your thumb over the spark plug hole while turning the crank! cos otherwise you could seem to be a TDC, but it would be for the wrong cylinder! (Crank turns twice for camshaft to turn once. )

Don't know about s3, but the s2 dizzy #1 lead pointed at #1 cylinder
Sure you don't mean the rotor arm points to the number one lead/contact?
I have worked on cars where when you fit the dizzy, the rotor turns as the shaft enters into mesh. Don't know the series motors at all, so don't know if the drive is with a dog or a pinion type thing,
If I was in any doubt, I'd switch the ignition on, turn the crank to the firing point presumably TDC, ensuring number one cylinder was under compression, check the rotor arm is pointing towards the #1 lead in the cap, then, with the cap off, loosen the locking device on the dizzy, advance it, then retard it until I can see/hear the spark.
Once locked up, this should then mean it would start even if the timing would need adjusting.
@Gun7354 , are you getting a spark at the number one plug at any point on the cycle? The problem could also be any of:
wrong gap at the points,
dodgy rotor arm
dodgy condenser,
dodgy coil
dodgy connections to any of the above, especially the cap, for instance you could have accidentally earthed the points
or fuelling problem.

Which engine is fitted later ones have timing indicator on crank pulley.
It is possible for the distributor drive to be fitted 180 degrees out if the drive from camshaft has been fitted the wrong way.
The drive pin in bottom of distributor is offset so as long as the gear part has not been removed distributor only goes in one way.
Position of the drive part is explained in the manual do you have access to a workshop manual.#

Thank you for all your help and advice. So.....after pulling the carb to bits, messing with the dizzy etc it was the 'new' condenser from a well known online shop. Found it knackered after fitting an old one. Started straight away and runs lovely.

fit electronic ignition as condensors can breakdown with age and even new old stock can be dodgy
