Hi everyone. I have a Hymer (1992 B534) Motorhome and my two front seats (driver & Passenger) need replacing. The mechanisms are okay, but the padding & material have been chewed to death by dogs.
Their fitment is by 4 bolts on each seat, one in each corner.
The front bolts are approx 31.5 cm apart.
To the sides, the bolts are approx 29.5cm apart.
Might anyone know if any Land Rover - or range Rover, seats could be fitted or adapted to fit, please?
I could get them recovered, I know, but to have seats from such distinguished vehicles fitted would be a blessing.
Might anyone know? I heard there might be.
I reckon, for the cost of recovering i could recycle seats from a scrapped Rover/Range, and be better off.
I'm new to this so hope my post works.

I don't know. However, having watched the ITV guys they wouldn't know the difference.
Also, I saw another old Hymer with leathger seats from a Land Rover, and his was never questioned.
I lost touch with him though.
Regrdless though, I wioulod still like a set of front seats.

Fine till your involved in an RTI though I'd check first...
No. You haven't answered my question ans rhe fact it might not pass an itv is itrelev3nt.
My question still stands. All im asking for is the possible chance of a seat teplacement and not a legal thing.
I heard this group could be useful, and also learned there woukd be useless answers.
Please, i just want info for seats and nothing else. Keep the legal stuff buried.
Ta.

Do you want a landy seat or would you prefer a good one?

Keep your hair on...answer to your question is dont know but I would suggest if you take advice on modifing your vehicle from a member on here make sure they know what theyr'e talking about...the legal side of modifing IS important and often discussed on here as it also affects your insurance...

You just ain't getting it are you?

Any seats can be made to fit it just depends on how much work you want to do
Range rover p38 leather seats which are like your favorite arm chair are often fitted to vw t4 campers

Pity it's not in AG..OP admits he doesnt know if it's legal in Spain to modify in his first reply to me second reply indicates he doesnt care...hey ho on you go...I suggest with the least amount of work S1 seats will fit...lol

The standard Hymer seat are high quality ISRI, and worth rebuilding in most cases. However, if you really wish to fit something else, most other seats can be fitted as the seat mounting base is just a box. If you have the swivels bases, you can just bolt a steel plate to the top and bolt on your seat of choice to the plate. One of the guys on the Hymer forum used Peugeot 406 leather seats and they looked great. It's worth checking in there for opinions on the various options.

I ran a B544 for a number of years. One of the few vehicles that I regret selling!

I don't understand why a new member would join to ask questions related to a non land rover vehicle and then complain when it's suggested there might be legal issues

Does modify include repairs?
I don't see why you can't re-cover existing seats? It's got to be easier surely?

Repairs are repairs fitting a seat from another vehicle make is not allowed in general here as is adding accesories like winchs...you cant take a van and convert it into a camper either...

Need to replace the rest of the T4 as well

That's mental! Are you allowed to import them? All camper vans (as opposed to motorhomes) start life as a regular van then autosleeper etc convert them

If it is built by a manucturer and they supply a certificate yes...have a mate who has a Renault converted for wheelchair use by the Renault official builder it's on UK plate but no way will they matriculate it here...

Similar in France, people do convert vans but as I understand it you are only able to have any two of the following three - water - electric - gas. Having all three would qualify as a camping car and without a manufacturers certificate of conformity for both the chassis and the habitation it would fail to get though the French system.
The way round that (though risky for legal reasons) is to just have two of the three when registering it. My mate is doing this, and he is the local fire chief !!
