Hi everyone I have a 1997 Land Rover discovery 2.5 litre 300tdi and it’s making funny noises when first going into gear like a clonking noise and a whining noise when moving but not if my I put the clutch down a friend said that may be the turbo
Please help thanks

Welcome to LZ. :)

The clonking noise might be coming from the clutch, or the drive train, or the A frame ball joint. The other noise is unlikely to be the turbo, more likely clutch release bearing, or gearbox related.
To get a selection of other opinion, I would post about that in the Disco section.
