my 90 is off the road again its a 54 plate with 31000 on the clock and its been at the dealer 4 times in a year the last 3 have been for the same problem ive told them whats up and they dont sort it. its got to the stage we have rejected the landy and are thinking about a nissan does any one else have these problems with dealers or is it just a one off

I lost count of the number of times my disco went back for the same problem with leaks around the windscreen. 5 years later and I discovered it was the sunroof drains and despite this being a known and unsolved problem since it was 1 week old, I now have to fix it myself.

Apparently, the dealer assumes all punters are stupid. LR dictate that they must be able to reproduce the problem before they'll order any parts (very strict for warranty repairs I believe since if the LR procedure isn't followed LR won't pay the dealer) - very often parts are not in stock; so you have to take it back again. Generally they also dont seem to try very hard to fix stuff if it's not blatently obvious.

Sorry to negative. I love my Disco & Defender but my main dealer is appalling.

Tell them to come to spain and how the SPANISH DEALERS operate...check out my thread in the frelander forum ...strange rumble on a freelander? and you wil se what i mean .
Thanks

My friend received a quote from his local Land Rover Dealership for wiring up two spotlights ( spots NOT included)

GBP 258.00 ( incl VAT). He even phoned back to check he had not misheard.

THE DEALERS AROUND HERE IN SOUTHAMPTON ARE AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE TOO. NO SERVICE WHATSOEVER. EVERYTHING IS OUTSOURCED AND YOU END UP WITH SOME NUTCASE REPAIRING YOUR CAR.
I WANTED TO BUY A NEW ONE AND THEY WOULD NOT BOTHER AT ALL TO CALL ME BACK, THEY OFFERED ME ONE CAR AFTER 7 DAYS. NO SERVICE
AT ALL AND UNFRIENDLY. I WILL NOT BUY A LAND ROVER IN SOUTHAMPTON

Hi, bought my first Land Rover recently from James French in Standlake, Oxfordshire. They arent a registered Land Rover dealer but only appear to deal and service Land Rover vehicles.

Personal service as well as car service is excellent. Been back a few times for various things and never a problem, they even showed me what they changed when the clutch went last Sunday. Basically turned up unannounced Monday morning limping my Landy into the forecourt and they got it back on the road for me by Tuesday evening, even had a courtesy car to run around in.

Never had any dealings with an approved Land Rover dealer but James French gets my vote. Steve who runs the garage down there is only too happy to chat and advise about all things Land Rover.

....the Main Dealers dont like the people who drive the 'real' Landrovers. They know we have worked out how to form clubs, groups, source parts at 10% of the price - so once they have sold us the car they consider us as low value. They like to spend the time on the housewife Range Rover Sport drivers ( what IS the point of that model? )..who will come back and spend their money without thought.

I hate all car dealers,New and secondhand but the beauty of Landrovers is they are easy to work on,parts are easy to get and i love working on them myself but open the bonnet to the wifes Honda civic and just forget it....
