Hi there,
I've had my first Freelander for around 2 months & having taken some very useful info from this site thought I best sign up!
My landy cherry has been popped by what, so far, has been a financially and emotionally abusive model. Not going to lie, it's kept me mean and I've been stubbornly keen. Called him Salazar. Only been driving less than 18 months, started off with a 05 scenic (suitably terrible first car) and went on to an astra. Called that one Kelly. She was a good egg, albeit a bit rugged and old. Reminded me of Donna's mother on "Two pints of lager" tv show. After them two, thought id go for a big name- expecting the more I spend the better I get. Hoping to get a bit of a longer term commitment than a summer fling like Kelly I landed at the Freelander's doorstep. Took back I was. Dwarfed by it. (I'm 5ft2).
1 week in to what seemed a beautiful romance, I finish work to find it wont turn on. Starter motor says the mechanic. Oh and the knocking noise needs sorting. And your doors buggered.
"Fix it, it'll be sound after that" I thought.
1 Week later and he's jolting violently on the night before I'm meant to be whisking away the wife to sunny hills of wales. Ended up going in my dads corsa. It's since stopped doing it on its own accord. Asked mechanic for honest opinion, he tells me cars fine at minute but should sell as they're naff. Something to do with it being the "k series" petrol engine.. Had a few niggles like random lights coming on for a minute or two but other to that it has been sound!
The question is, are the other freelander models like TD4 much different and worth changing to?
