Almost every defender for sale under £10,000 is a scam i can’t believe what’s happening with this country
It seems not a day goes by I don’t get a phone call from who ever trying to scam the amount of effort they put in to there scamming is impressive but surely they must start to stop this !

If you search for 'jim browning' on youtube you'll see examples of scam factory's and how lucrative running one can be. Hence why they put so much effort into it. Difficult to stop as they're often run outside the uk in countries that dun't care.

Absolutely gutted been looking for a TD5 for 16 years tbh and I thought i had actually found one !
Now I have just put it to bed and come to realise that spending £16,000 lowest TD5 I have seen or probably a lot more is not just risk from been scammed it’s also a lot of trouble if the rot sets in !
Never mind just one more off the list

Stick with yer trusty Freelander. Freelander's rule. ;)
Ha there’s the problem
Mine took a complete beating last mot the lad took a screwdriver to the underside even managed to put it through the cv boot ( funny think that he never put that on the fail sheet) he also managed to put 4 6/10mm holes around the subframe mount on the front and pis sed me around with one he hadn’t marked! Now she’s not the best underside wise with out a nasty little git with a screwdriver trying to right her off
So it’s probably not going to be safe much longer
Mechanical it’s a complete beast every know fault they all seem to have has been done even gear links ! So my plan is to find a low mileage 3 door and hopefully with none or bare minimum rust and to treat and hopefully stop the rot before it starts .
The why they are going in the next 10years or so they will be only a few left so hopefully it will be worth the effort keep one ?

I really want to keep mine going as long as possible. I think I'l be doing some corrosion prevention work soon. Waxoiled it a few years ago but I think it's time for a fresh treatment.

Search for lanoguard on ere. The tratter, disco and big freelander owners all use it. What they dun't suffer with rust, aint worth worrying about.

Yer have to spray it on. Fink it goes over everyfink. Needs done yearly.

Ordered some Lanoguard and spray kit to do the Orange G4. Looks a bit brown underneath but no holes (yet).
Will get it pressure blasted, dried and then spray it.
My TD4 I did the hard way. Removed all underside components, cleaned and re undersealed and then waxoyled box sections. Powder coated all subframes and springs etc. Seems to be lasting well. As long as MOT man can see face in the subframes he is happy.

I got mine from Scotland so it’s probably one of the worst underneath
I have had it a far few years and to me it still puts a smile on my face so I wouldn’t sell it I am really hoping of finding a clean 3 door face lift incase mine gets dangerous and just use it as a donor
I have loads of extra soft top shower cover …
So hopefully when I finish working it’s off to car shows we go !
Most people like the freelander and they need to be appreciated warts and all

Is it
Let us know how you get on with the lanoguard. Asking for a tratter friend.
seen it on YouTube is it sticky?
I will get the wheels off and give it a coating just before the test hopefully it covers the little sh it

There’s nothing to hide at the minute
My friend is the welder and he’s really good at it
It’s just the general condition is very poor in places. The tank cradle is almost new the floor and sills are all ok it’s the back sub and arms on the suspension all look terrible tbh
I have a rear sub ready power coated but the thought of the carnage that would follow trying to replace it as put me off for 4 years !
Still think best option is find a clean freelander
And use all the goodies off my original one

Its not just land rovers, boats, campervans are both a nightmare most are classified adverts, I change the settings
& just look at buy now or bidding puts me looking on bgay.
The mot tester isnt allowed to poke loads of holes in a motor, they must use the wee hammer
& rusty parts are only finger/thumb pressure. fkn twatt but at least your know where to weld now. o_O

Its a thin clear liquid. It wont hide stuff but it will protect it. Fink @Flossie or @Turktowner have used it.

Hippo is correct, I did the underside of the 90 with it. Is more oily than sticky, though its best to put the container in a bucket of hot water when spraying. Takes a coip!e of days to dry out depending on the weather. Smells sheepy until dry :)
Good stuff all the same.

I have now got a clean Freelander to apply this stuff on so here we go
hopefully it’s not to sheepy or I might be kicked out the lock up
£94 😩 hopefully it’s the sheep’s bo,,,,,..
