I'm doing a deal on a 1987 Landrover 90. It's going to come with an Mot. Overall condition, needs general tidying up. Much of it basic spannering etc.
Any ideas on making it more usable for daily use.

What are you thinking of doing?

Hi and welcome!

Check chassis and bulkhead as repairs to these are expensive.

A 300Tdi conversion is well worth doing, and fit some decent soundproofing too. If it is used mainly for road use, fit AT tyres as opposed to mud tyres. A disco rear axle with disc brakes is worth having too. Most importantly, fit decent security measures as they’re very popular with thieves.

Let us know how you get on and don’t forget some pics!

^^^^^^^Everything above, but assuming that making it more "usable" includes having a reliable vehicle, it is definitely worth taking the time to give it a good service, as this can reveal any issues that may impact reliability. Change the engine, gearbox, transfer box and both differential oils, check the swivel housings for lube, and change the coolant. All easy to do, but often neglected.
