Have tried to stop sump leaking 3 times using sealant, can you fix a gasket to this sump and should there be reinforcing plates on the outside where the sump bolts on?

It is usual to introduce yourself in the relevant section before weighing in with questions ;):)

But :welcome2: anyway!

Are we talking 2.5 diesel or petrol, or has it had TDi etc. retrofitted?

Sealant is recommended in the manual, there is a spec. given for the right one. Are you sure you applied it nice and evenly, right round the bolt holes and sump flange?

Used Hylormar Aerograde Sealant. I made sure the sump was spotlessly clean. I then looked a friends C plate Land Rover and on the sump there are reinforcing plates on the outside edge of the sump. By the way mine is 2.5 TD and it is on a F plate.

Should there be reinforcing plates on my Land Rover as mine is newer than his?

Many Thanks
Merv :)

No plates on my G reg 2.5td. They were probably discontinued for cost saving, maybe they got a better design of sump!
