:D New to the forum and loving it :D. just jumped from "Introduce Yourself -Two to Four again" and am hopeing to get some ideas of what to do with my s2. No pictures yet im afraid, as I will be bringing her down shortly from her 12 year resting place. I realy do not know what to expect. all i know is that i intend to do a nut and bolt resto, with a twist:scratching_chin:. this is were i need your input guys . which direction should i take?
1. Back to standard
2. Standard with some modern upgrades
3. Non standard- mix match parts and types defender, aftermarket etc.
or
4. theme based eg military, americana influence, jungle jumper or retro chic.????

I intend to drive often on the road and use her to trail around my 1944 BSA-M20. looking for direction.

i,d keep it looking original but have a few user friendly upgrades, 200 di/tdi, perhaps sum bollox springs and fender seats, if your going to use it every day get some decent sound proofing sorted out, most of all enjoy !. (wouldnt go second left, its all smooth roads down there, try first right);)

Number 2, couple modern upgrades to make it more enjoyable, but when you get it home, look at it, look at a few rebuilds on the forum and see what you think, eg there's no shame in changing your mind and doing more of a rolling restoration job which is far cheaper, but if you've got the money and time and a moderate amount of skill, I'd go with Galv chassis, Galv bulkhead, (if your doing lots of road miles fit 200/300tdi) (if you get a biggger engine consider bigger/properly maintained brakes) parabolic springs, original style rims, cubby box with radio, sound proofing kit, (if you are likely to be parking in tight places or do any city driving then look at power steering)
Hope some of my ideas helped :) ben

KEEP IT STANDARD IF YOU WANT A DEFENDER ENGINE AND FRONT END OR GEARBOX BUY A BLOODY DEFENDER! leave the poor ol' girl alone

Great ideas 'ben waine' thanks. i have decided to stick with the perkins engine, as it is a period mod and will take yuour advice and take my time in deciding which upgrades are realy needed.

Jesus..... the plus points are that its got windscreen wipers.....the bad point is that if you use em you'll be sweeping the rest of the car into a bucket.
