We bought a pair of Lambda sensors last week for Philip's V8, MHK100920.

Came in Britpart boxes but had slight differences in the nose pressing and grey plugs.

After running them we got an error message "sensor not heating up" and after checking resistances we find that one has 9ohms and one has 18ohms.

Contacted Britpart direct as the dealer wouldn't have had any input into what was in the box, and they have come back today to say that the correct part should have a 9 ohm heater resistance and have six slots on the nose pressing.

The originals had 3 slots and orange connector.

So check that what you are buying is what it says on the label. Also note that many advertisers with these units don't carry them on the shelf, they wait for your order then when you've paid they get them in from Britpart on an overnight delivery.

i was under the impression that orange connectors is the before cat sensor and grey was for the after cat position,ie as on n/American spec vehicles?

Since 2003 I have seen many, many faults with LR products fitted with cheap/incorrect oxygen sensors - from plenty of sources,Euro car parts are a bit of a favourite...
Either buy them from a decent NGK/NTK dealer or get them from a main dealer. The cost saving is nothing compared to the hassle of parts that simply don't work.
On one occasion I even bin dived the scrap bin to get back the original sensors,(There was nothing wrong with them, just a dead plug lead...) at a now defunct well known indy along the m4 towards London...

I've got two genuine Bosch units coming from Germany, £63 each.

The Britpart ones are running OK and toggling on Philip's D2 V8, just a bit leery about failure.

I notice that Island4X4 say that their Lambdas are not suitable for LPG. I phoned and asked why, the guy said because of failures when used on LPG, they could see by the heat signs on the sensor nose.

As LPG leaves virtually no deposits, you get a pretty bleached plug and sensor, but I cannot see that a sensor on a relatively low state of tune V8 running on LPG would have a heat issue. 360 deg C is what RAVE gives as typical exhaust temperature.

I think its probably a case of Island being fed up with warranty claims from people who think that their oxy sensors are faulty when its either poor trimming of the LPG ecu or a dying maf causing very narrow injector pulse width bands. They sell mostly decent products at a very low price, warranty claims may just narrow the margins too much.
