The problem - rear wiper runs an odd cycle and won't stop in the same place twice. Also won't run a single sweep wipe - keeps going through the 4 wipes cycle at ignition on and on steering column lever push.

I have stripped and cleaned the rear wiper motor (what a lot of rusty muck!) replaced the plastic wheel, and refilled with grease (I have used silicone grease on recommendation but it seems very thick - maybe white lithium would have been better..?).
The one problem was on reassembly I had a few tries to get the arm teeth after the wheel assembly (not the motor or wheel teeth) to mesh correctly in the right position for a full sweep.
Put the motor back in, popped the wiper arm back on the spline in the right position - but now it will only sweep a cycle of 4 times and never stops in the same place twice. The sweep is the right length and it sweeps the right area of screen - but its cycle does not stay the same exact length..

Should I just replace the motor? Or could it be the relay?
It was working ok until the plastic cog wheel finally gave up.

I could be wrong but I think it is the relay as that should indicate when the wyper is at the park position, sounds as if it is not getting that signal have you checked Rave?

HI,

Same problem for me - did you get an answer? did you find fault.

Yes - sorry for the long delay!
It needed a new motor. About £110 from a main dealer somewhere in Kent. That did the trick. Now wiping perfectly.
I did try to replace the plastic gear inside with a new one, but that was not the problem.
However, the washer was another problem as it goes though the drive shaft. There is a non-return valve which broke! So I just have to wait a while for the washer fluid to go through the system.
