Hi im new to the rangey world but have done some research (very worrying) but was hopeful with being handy with a spanner that i should be able to cope. I went to look at a 05 vogue (facelift) 3 litre diesel verified low miles 80000, very little rust rear arches drove nice some paper work but not full history but the guy had had it 11 years. It looked fairly abused inside but i think with a valet should come up ok . The EAS seemed ok on all settings gearbox didn't seem to have issues I've got the same box in my 330d bmw, all the gizmos work steering column, heated seats etc.the only thing was what sounds like LCM problem eg light staying on draining battery. I though a swop of module and we are away but after researching here looks like its much more complex , needing to program another one from the original then looking at the scanning tools which are capable youre looking close to a grand or its down the indie which looks like unless you get the tool youd be doing alot of . Also to compared to the BM, the heating didn't get that hot on full setting ?Im not bothered with it looking abit worn , its up for 4k with no move in price is this still good at this price for this year milage not much history but 2 owner do you think eg not to bad to get sorted , or big gamble cheers what am I saying I know it's a gamble

Watch the rear arches what looks like a tiny bit of rust is normally 10x worse as they rust from the inside and are made of a different steel which is thinner and harder and a pig the weld also look for rust on the subframes and rear brake pipes rust for fun
i dont know if it will do an 05 but have a look at the bmw inpa software which is free but you need a cable but you can get the software with a cable for £70 and it works well

Sounds expensive for an L322 with an electronic fault. Budget at least £2K for sorting the problems plus another £2K for replacing the gearbox if it's original, they fail around the 80K miles mark.

Thanks for the input, yeah I was wondering if the price was right, I know they all have something going on but this drains the battery overnight so has to be sorted asap , I thought at least buy something that's okay and then wait for the fun to begin. Jobs on this would be sort out rear arches, treat the underneath, sort rust in tailgate, service , gearbox oil and filter I think with the Hassel of sorting the LCM tip's it over the edge as I haven't got the kit
