If it's the Td6 M57 then the GM gearbox is not up to the job with standard performance, adding anymore power is for masochists.has anyone done chptuning and their l322 and noticed a decent increase? im lokking what i can do for our car with chiptuning and if it is a thing.
Noare there difirent td6 engines?

170bhp in a 4 x 4 is more than enough IMO. Where the hell are you going to use more power on today's jam packed roads? The M57 is grossly under powered in the L322 170hp 405nm
In BMW Saloons it can easily make 250hp and over 480nm.
A remap just nudges the power up, nowhere near what it can do in other stock iterations. LOL
LR set the power lower to meet the GM5L40E's torque limit.
Odd gearbox.
Also tbh I'd of put the 700r4 in the L322 if I was the engineer.
But of course LR wouldn't be able to hold the RR **** reputation if they used quality parts

There is a sad obsession with ever more unusable power causing unnecessary pollution just to feel big having that much power under the right foot.
I tow up to the legal limit from time to time with my M51 powered P38, never had a problem even in the hills of France. Before that I towed with a Hyundai Galloper, that did struggle a bit on the hill as it got older, but then it only had about 100bhp and weighed nearly as much as a P38.More to do with the driving style tbh.
Torque is what I'm interested in, and other stock iterations the engine produces more
You tend to also work the engine harder with less grunt.
Horses for courses, I don't feel "big" with more power, but it is nice when towing to have some in reserve, instead of matting it.
Hey ho.

I saw a very nice VM turbo Silver 2 door Classic at the builders merchants yesterday.Yep all RRs can pull well no matter the iteration.
The VM powered classic is a nice drive.
You should try one.I saw a very nice VM turbo Silver 2 door Classic at the builders merchants yesterday.
I wonder how much of the decision was BMW's rather than Land Rover's though. The original BMW X5 uses the same engine and gearbox combo I believe and also suffers the same fate. The gearbox is just underspecced for the application. And likely part of the reason the HP was kept low in stock trim. The M57 is grossly under powered in the L322 170hp 405nm

Considering Land Rover will sell you a Range Rover today with what 550bhp, then yes 170hp is not a lot of power.170bhp in a 4 x 4 is more than enough IMO. Where the hell are you going to use more power on today's jam packed roads?

In answer, the Td6 will respond to a remap/chip very well. Although exactly which one may depend on the quality of the map. However the gearbox is on borrowed time even with a stock powered Td6 (it might already have been rebuilt???). Remapping it will likely ensure you will need to get the box rebuilt. So make sure you take this cost into consideration.has anyone done chptuning and their l322 and noticed a decent increase? im lokking what i can do for our car with chiptuning and if it is a thing.
I tried a new one, bought an XJS insteadYou should try one.

Absolutely. The TD6 L322 is quick enough for anybody. Why anyone would chip it defeats me.
