Help just got told from mechanic my 2004 freelander kv6 needs short block just wandering if any 1s had same problem and got it fix.and the best option thanks
Hi mechanic said there was something wrong with bottom liners. just seen him today and is going to swap the hole engine.I've got a low mileage short block, although it's a long way from NZ.
What's up with yours? Normally the heads go soft if overheated, but the block normally is fine.
Hi just started to fix it this year been in workshop for a few months the mechanic did the radiator fans;thermostat housing;manifold gaskets;new water tank.Did you solve your previous overheating problems from a year ago?
There are those on here that say the KV6 is fixable when you start getting overheating - and I suppose it should be - but at times most of the V6's for sale in NZ have overheating problems (and they're just the ones that are open about it) and there's been various decent home mechanics on here that have not been able to resolve their problems.
Where abouts in NZ are you?

Forgot to mention it was losing coolant and he did a test in coolant which had exhaust flumes too .Unless it's loosing coolant, swapping the engine isn't the cure.
