my 2001 freelander which i have owned since jan 2005 needs constant monitoring of the coolant level and frequent topping up , i dont believe it is the head gasket and there is no evidence of coolant loss under the vehicle after it has completed a journey and parked on my drive - does anyone have any ideas please

Hi i would get it checked out if i was you the kv6 dos have a few places they leak normally from some blanking covers at the back of the head and on the rear from the right hand side behind the belts, the coolant loss could be sitting on your undertray? best to have another look.

i also bought my freelander in jan it is a 2000 1.8 and i had exactley the same problem putting water constantly but never seeing it leak when i checked dipstick looked normal level but on close inspection i could see the level was very high - took to land rover main dealer yesterday and they phoned today to say head gasket gone and they are emailing land rover to see if they will meet all or part of the costs seeing as it is a manufacturing fault. advise you to get checked out
