Hi, I hit a wall and damaged the front drivers side of the vehicle  ever since that the car doesnt recognise Park! and wont let me remove the ignition key ??? Any Ideas please anyone, its a TDV8 2007 Vogue SE ? really cant keep leaving it with the key in and cant even lock it with the spare key because the key is in the ignition

Am guessing there will be a switch (either mechanical or electrical) on the selector shaft that controls a solenoid

Am sure you could manually 'make the circuit', but to be honest this is sounding like a garage job

I don't quite understand what you mean by "doesn't recognise park". E.g. the lever won't go into Park, or the lever won't move out of gear, or the lever moves into P but the vehicle still drives as if in gear, or does the gear box go into neutral when you select park.

As asked earlier, what about neutral?

Andy,

Is the car actually going into park..the reason I ask is that if the gear selector isnt selecting park properly then the switch that recognises the key transponder wont release the key... on range rovers.net..................I apologise for mentioning another forum ...there are some threads I think about the gear slectors needing adjustment on some of the new L322's.... hope that helps...Im new to the L322 as well so learning like you...

thats quite a useful website...

If it is the linkage seized then dealers stock a modified part. The cable too selector lever on the gearbox end has a nylon bush that hasn't enough clearance and rust causes it to become too tight which in turn holds you out of park or sometimes drive.
Try shoving it into park hard and fast (oh er) and you might get the key out, then get a new modified pivot which is about a ten minute job to fit, just take the plastic under tray off 6 10mm headed bolts and you will see it..

the gear shift goes into the park position but the P light doesn't light up on the consol or the dashboard ? all other lights (R,N,D) work and show in dash, haven't tried neutral to get the key out, I'm getting it recovered to the dealer now as has developed a battery fault and won't start now even on jump leads and all light inside and out flash like a nightclub !
