Hi, my partner has a Freelander 2 and she is getting a message on her dash saying that her smart key battery is flat.

Is this battery rechargeable and if so how?

She doesn't put the key in the dash like you do on my BMW, she just leaves it in her handbag when driving!

Should it be in a particular place in the vehicle and is the battery even rechargeable or is it just a replaceable coin cell?

Thanks folks.

If you don’t have to dock the key in the dash to start then they are replaceable batteries in the fob

You need a decent quality CR2032

Thanks for the help guys, that's great!
She definitely doesn't have to dock the key, iin fact on the rare occasions she actually locks it up she always has to hunt for the key at the bottom of her handbag!

Sounds like a CR2032 then.

Thanks again

Just a quick follow up!
Td4 Van's advice was spot on, replaced the CR2032 and the fault has cleared.
Thanks to everyone for the help, much appreciated.
