Any help please? I have a 1997 Range Rover 4.6 which I don't drive very regularly at all. I have come to use it and the battery was flat, not normally an issue. So I attempted to jump it from my Freelander 1.8 which on this time has bought me back with a key code lock fault. The key in the drives door only now unlocks the drivers door. I have tried the eka code which has not worked, I have changed the key batteries not worked and have change fuses 9 and 14 for the door locks and again not worked.

Has anyone got an ideas please.

Thanks

Jamie

If your having a battery drain issue most times it is the RF receiver (for the key fob) inside the car. This can be activated by wireless tech in your home or on your street. Because of this your BECM (under your drivers seat) is constantly being woken up as it thinks you are using your key fob to open the doors remotely. Then what happens is your door lock motors burn out (so you cant open them with the fob) Your EKA code may well be down to the flat battery and not being used for some time..

Try unplugging the RF receiver... and see if the batter still drains...

RF receiver is under the rear parcel shelf on the driver's side (RHD). If it has a blue dot or a yellow dot on it then you have an issue. A quick search will give hundreds of results.

If the display says "KEY CODE LOCKOUT" you need to wait 30 minutes before entering the EKA.

If you try whilst the display says Key Code Lockout it won't work.

You get three attempts at entering EKA code. If you do it wrong three times you will get "Key code lockout". And have to wait. Simply open and close the drivers door after every two failed attempts and you will never get key code lockout. You cannot sync keys whilst system is in this state.

I've had it straight away when my battery has gone flat.

Worth double checking it's not that.
