Hi i'm rebuilding my 4l v8 engine so should i fit a better camshaft. Kentcams h180 does it make a big difference i don't want a full on race cam just more grunt

They do make a big difference - standard cams are profiled for fuel efficiency and smoothness.

which one depends on your gearbox

Auto - Kent H180, Real Steel Viper Hurricane, Piper Torque Max. JE Engineering JE101.

All can be used with standard springs.

These are also great with manual 'boxes but you can go a bit higher up the rev range with a Piper 270 or Kent H200

We have just rebuilt a 4.2 for a Bowler Wildcat with a Real Steel Viper Hurricane in it - talk about pulling stumps out! - also the cheapest at 160 pounds delivered.

H180 is a very mild cam and not really worth the effort better off with a real steel Cyclone cam or the hurricane mentioned above

H180 gives 20 bhp and 20lbs/ft of torque over standard with much better throttle response - so about 10%.

I had one in my 3.9 auto discovery and it was lovely lovely lovely.

Engine all rebuilt with tophat liners and kent cam h180 flew through mot pleased with results. Recommend turner engineering very helpful a brilliant block top job and with cam nice kick when you pull away really pleased

Hi mark

glad you are enjoying your new motor - as I said before the Kent is so lovely with an auto gearbox

Once you have run it in, 1000 miles or so, as I am sure Richard and Frieda at Turners told you, change the oil and then you can give it the beans - overtaking pull from 40 to 70 in kickdown is superb...................right where you need it.

Good choice.
