Just read up on the ashcroft atb's they sound brill
Defender2 - View topic - ATB (torsen) front and rear install
The downside of an ATB type diff is that to balance any torque both wheels on that axle have to have at least some grip. If you lift a wheel you will be back to an open diff scenario.
You can get over this by applying some braking force to the spinning wheel though. Effectively "tricking" the diff into seeing grip on that side.
I have the aid of traction control for those cross axle situations
As do I
I saw the Fender in your pic and wasn't sure if you did. Also thought the info would help the OP.
This is what is left of my Detroit Autolocker, they are good bits of kit but be aware the full lockers can be a bit of a handful if you are gonna stick grippy rubber on.
I would be tempted to go down the Kam route at the moment as the Detroit disintegrating has left a bit of a sour taste in the mouth for me but that is just my personal choice,
I have a Detroit locker in the rear and trutrac in the front, very happy with both and it will go 99.9% of the places my mates 90 will with front and rear arb's
A trutrac is a worm gear type torque biasing diff the same as ashcroft I think, there is also plate type lsd around but not used one in a Landy.
Yes but I belive the trutrac has 3 helicoils where as the Ashcroft has 6??
