Hi, just joined the forum and thought I'd say hello!
I bought a 2013 Defender 90 almost a year ago and that pretty much kicked off my new love affair with all things Landrover.
So.....I went out on Saturday and bought a 1978 Series 3 88" and drove it back to Gloucestershire from Kent. Yes....I nearly lost control of the steering a number of times as I wobbled on the motorway....and yes...i did crunch the gears on more than on occasion as I tried to find 1st.....and yes....I did learn that in order to brake I had to start the braking process 300 yds earlier than in any other car I've had......and yes...it was quite noisy....and cold... on the M4. BUT I FLIPPIN LOVE HER!!!
Mechanically she's in good shape and over the next year or so I'm gradually going to start making her look pretty again. At present she is a truck pickup with an aluminium roof attached...but the ambition is to turn her into a soft top with a full tilt....well thats the idea at present anyway. In the meantime, we are redeveloping a house that we've bought in the Cotswolds so she will be used as she was intended...as a little workhorse!
Anyway, just thought I'd say hi and looking forward to being a part of the community
