Hi folks,

Just to introduce myself and to say I just bought an ex-MoD FFR 109" 24v petrol Series III this week. I had a 1965 SIIa for many years and loved it - the feelings of driving a classic Landy all came flooding back when I drove this one home!

Things look good so far; it's low mileage, original engine, good chassis & bulkhead. A bit of black smoke, but it's been standing a while & the earlier posts here on that topic have been v. helpful - cheers. Impressed with 24v electrics - instant starting & bright lights weren't a strong feature of my IIa - so will learn the ropes & keep it that way.

I'm guessing I should be using a petrol additive with unleaded, does anyone have any recommendations please?

Thanks for the info I've got already from your earlier posts, I'm still working through them & it's all useful stuff. :)

Martin.

You might need a fuel additive due to lead free petrol not being an option on those days, the fuel (lead) also acted as a lube for the valve guides, using non lead fuel can cause sticking valves in the guides causing a misfire and thus poor performance.
