Hello everyone,
Sorry if there is already a thread on this subject I couldn't find any.
Anywho, I have recently bought a 2002 range rover vogue 4.4 v8. I have just sent it off to be serviced and had a phone call saying I need to have an engine fuel flush @ £165 coolant flush @£170 brake flush @£90 also for the mot I need to have the high level brake light fixed @£170 rear brake pads @£165 parking brake adjustment @£70 ??? Is this normal? I can do a lot of these myself but is someone having my pants down? Do I need an engine fuel flush?
Many thanks in advance and sorry again for my stoopid Newby questions.

Welcome,

TBH, sounds like you are being taken for a ride...Did they even state why you need all the flushes?

Sounds like a good way to relieve you of your money.

On the MOT points, has it actually failed on these points or are they advisories? IS the high level brake light just a blown bulb?

Cheers

Thanks, I thought so. I stopped them doing anything other than the oil change and brake fluid. But they were adamant I needed a range rover approved engine fuel flush and coolant? Does the engine need this?

What is the mileage?

I do not know if RR ever specified a flush for anything. Although doing a coolant flush is not a bad thing, this I would have thought you could do yourself for the price of some coolant and a lot of water.

Have you sent it to a JLR dealer to get this done?

So, has it failed an MOT then?

Cheers

Hi, no they didn't say why it needed the flush just that it did.
The brake light, handbrake and pads were all mot failures. Not sure how bad they are as I haven't got it back yet.
I thought I was being taken for a ride so I stopped them doing anything. Just needed to know if I was wrong or not.

Yes it has failed on these. I took it to a normal mot service centre not jlr as I can't afford to walk in the door. It's done 120k all seemed well and was running great I knew about the handbrake just didn't have time to sort.
Thanks

I think you would be advised to find a local independent LR/RR garage and let them work on it if needed and it is not something you want or feel the need to do.

Hope you get it sorted.

Cheers
