Hi all, we have developed a new problem whereby there is a bad juddering accompanied by a squeaking sound which sounds almost like a fan belt but is movement related not engine related, the noise stops under power but returns when you take your foot off. I have some thoughts, I you guys have some ideas, many thanks.

Manual or Auto?
Binding brake? UJ failed?? VCU seized???

Auto, I need to get some more axle stands so I can get all the wheels off the ground to investigate further. The front prop seal on the transfer box has leaked a bit but all the fluids have been changed recently.

You sure that there is still oil in the transfer box?

Also noticed there was a lot of play in the UJ going into the front of the transfer box, don't know if that is relevant?

Aha, one obvious problem.
I would fix that and move on from there. Play is never a good thing.
The reason I ask is my 1999 has a fit if lifted off all four wheels and put into drive. The traction control goes ballistic and tries to control everything.
I would have suggested putting it into drive while all four in the air to listen or inspect but that isn't going to happen being a 2000..
I'd start with the obvious propshaft and see what happens.;)
