Hi all time to replace the rusty exhaust on my '98 4.6, I'm going to replace the cats with double S 200cpsi sports cat but undecided whether to go with a Janspeed cat back or double S quad outlet cat back stainless steel exhuast. I dont know whether there is much difference between the two other than the price, £432 double S, £499 for Janspeed so any input would be useful and also trying to find a great sound to compliment the V8.

Very happy with the Double S cat back system I bought for my diesel, but mine replicated the original as I wanted quiet.

Back in my early days with my RR I looked a SS plus Rimmer's and Janspeed systems on the traders stands a Billing for future reference, the first two were [swivel pins] with poor bends with creases, thickness of the metal and welding in fact a load of rubbish at £250 but Janspeed stood out with its perfect bends, welding and its weight.

Years later when my disco exhaust back box failed what did I fit... a Janspeed cat-back system it was a perfect fit in length, bend angles and the position of the hangers, so just half hour to fit, that was 6 years ago....perfect.

And sound is no louder than the factory system although the exhaust note is a lot deeper....perfect.

just replace with a standard exhaust fot £150 jib done saying that im gonna fit my straight threw centre pipe tomorrow need my v8 growl fix

The Double S I fitted seems to be heavy gauge & well made, it was a perfect fit too.
At my age, I do not want to be having to replace it again and I intend keeping the P38 until they bury me:)

Are you going to be buried in your P38 because it will get you out of any hole?

Had a janspeed on a rrc. One of the tubular headers rotted after a couple of years, thin construction mild steel. The rest was stainless, y piece mid and back. Mating flanges required exhaust putty. They were welded too far back on the tube so there was a 5mm gap between the flanges when the tubes mated. Poor

We start to think along those lines as we get older  (70yrs. tomorrow in my case) although my RRC, the last of four that I've owned, is still on a mild-steel system. This is largely because a neighbour from years back fitted a SS system to his 3.9 & it sounded so cheap & nasty that I vowed to stick to the standard product! Because I never do short journeys (not used as a daily driver) only the rear section has needed recent replacement in the five years since the whole system was fitted.

I have the Janspeed system on mine. I love the sound, a deep thrum through the rev range but quiet on the motorway.
