I’ve got a spot of bother…. 2004 TD5, air suspension….
One of the ride height sensors went defective and over pressurised the rear air spring on the driver’s side (RHD car). 5 minutes after parking in my garage there’s was an almighty bang as the air spring exploded, the other air spring deflated and the rear body is now resting on the rear tyres.
Lesson learned and passed on, defective ride height sensors = don’t drive the car. I was lucky it didn’t happen on the road.
New air springs and sensors are on the way and I’m able to do the repair.
But how do I raise the chassis enough to get it supported by axle stands? The body is too low to apply a trolley jack to the rear axle and without springs the axle can’t transmit load to lift the chassis. I am unwilling to start the engine until I can get the OSR wheel off and inspect the fuel line and filter for damage. Luckily there are no worrying puddles under the car.
Daisy has a Land Rover standard towing bracket. Would a high lift jack under that do the trick or would that bend the bracket? Or am I going to have to put the trolley jack under each chassis rail in turn and lift one side at a time?
Daisy would appreciate your thoughts.
