just noticed theres a small amount of oil dripping out of the exhaust manifold on the engine block and its dripping oil onto my alternator, any ideas what this is and how to fix it? i have a 2.25 S3 diesel.

Are you sure the leak is coming from the exhaust manifold? Could it be coming from the rocker box gasket?

im sure its cumin from the exhaust, cos where the pipe comes out the engine theres a oil patch under the pipe, its not a massive leak just would prefer it not to be there! maybe i need a new gasket or something?

What I meant was could the oil be coming from the rocker box gasket, flowing onto the exhaust manifold and from there onto your alternator?

just went out and wiped me finger on it and it didnt leave a mark so im guessin its not oil after all...

dinny joke about tasting stuff, i had an experenced mechanic once tell me that the best way to test if there was antifreeze in the cooler was to taste the water!! :jaw:
