I have a 2.25 normally aspirated diesel that I am restoring. The engine will have to go! Its so slow. I have the chance to buy a cheap 2.8 Isuzu turbo diesel for this. Can anyone give feed back on this choice of power plant? Are there any other recommendations as to an alternative reasonably cheap engine? Thanks Twotuncarman.

I have bought a Daihatsu 2.8 TD to go in my Series, bought the whole car for £200, got me money back on the parts I salvaged and ebayed :D

I had a 2.5 TD Isuzu lump in a Frontera, not the fastest of engines but that car would tow anything up hill down dale, and was reliable.

I have been warned that any 2. somthing turbo is going to be too powerful for the series gearbox, but people seem to fit V8s to a series box and get away with it, guess its just pays to be easy on the right foot.
