My old 94 tdi has failed the mot with usual rust problems. I drove round to an old mates house and surprise surprise he had just mot'd his 98 tdi for sale.He has just done the boot floor and the rear wheel arches have been patched' only bad point was front inner wheel arches are starting to go. its grey leather interior and its a manual 113 k on the clock regular maintenance by himself [ ex army driver] He said he wants at least £1500 for it. I need a Disco quick so I think I will get it. What do you all think?

Just be sure to go over it carefully before parting with money,

Just because he's a mate doesn't mean he wont try to hide a few problems from you

I tried to knock him down a bit but he wanted the full £1500 so I agreed. I had a drive round in it and it seemed ok and all the electric bits seem to work. Not used to the manual disco it was even more sluggish than my old auto :D I pick it up on thursday Hope I have more luck with this one than my last.

Get him to weld up your old one, pass the MOT ... flog it and split the dosh with him ... :)

The truth is they are all getting old now and even the last 300 disco's are 16 years old . You can't expect them to be trouble free.I suppose its one of the better ones out of a bad bunch.

work out if its cheaper to fix yours up £1500 that will pay for a lot of work and if your mate will help you all the better

yeah but a mate must be some sort of c**t to rip off a friend not only that i led to believe and i may be wrong but you have some come back if its not fit for purpose unless sold as spares n repairs
