Evening folks,

Am hoping someone might be able to diagnose a problem with my 52 plate defender td5 from the following description. She'll be going in to a nearby garage to have the work done but would like to have knowledge of the potential problem should the garage start to tell me its something expensive that needs replacing when its actually something basic :-S

Im getting a knocking noise from under the bonnet between 15 and 40 mph. It speeds up when the speed increases and isnt knocking at the same rate as the wheels are turning. Its not particularly loud and sometimes its almost in audible. It also stops when the clutch is engaged or if she's rolling in neutral.

Hope someone can help and thanks in advance for any useful advice!

UJ's ... Does the TD5 Defender have a donut too?

If its not speed / wheel rotation related maybe dual mass flywheel if goes quiet when depressed?

Had a new Valeo Clutch/Dual Mass Flywheel fitted last July at 110k miles so shouldnt be that thats causing the issue :-s
