At idel the volts at the battery are 14.28 and amps is 4.83.

Is this low?

The amps will drop as the battery reaches full charge.
Why do you think there's a problem?

Do you think there is an alternator issue. Or, is this just part of frazzled brain mode trying to track down your other electrical gremlins?

Suggest tracking down headlamp and fog light issues first. Start with fog light, then headlight.

Problem seems to be a f*^ked fog relay.

I had this problem intermittent a few weeks ago and i knew the battery was old so a fitted a new one and the problem went but it hasn't as its intermittent.
just bad luck it was all working when i put the new battery on.

Today the more i mess with the fog relay the worse the problem got worse.

now i have no horn, left indicator head lights or fog lights.

all the earths are good

Okay, ignore the light/horn/indicator issue for the moment.

1. prove fog light ccts & relay working correctly by replacing with a known working relay - if fog light problem still there start with 12v o/p from fog light cct fuse and work forward through cct til fault found checking for both clean 12v and no high resistance shorts = job done

2. now address light/horn/indicator - as above, start from fuse and work forward - a trick here is to islolate each switch i/p, this will flag up which cct is causing issue to/from the light/horn/indicator switch. Chances are its the light/horn/indicator switch as this is the common failure point within these ccts. It would be worth buying a G grade Lucas replacement as they're dirt cheap, are very quick to change over and it's always good to have a spare.
