Hi all, first post here, sorry if been dealt with before. Wife has 04 td4 only just passed 50k, has developed a whirring noise - sounds similar to wheel bearing on way out, increases with road speed. Changed 1 rear wheel brg last year so changed other 3 (hoping was one of them) no change. Noise sounds from the front, between footwells. Checked vcu, think its ok but removed and tested, still same. removed output pinion from ird and blanked, still same. Got up on the ramp at local garage and ran up in fouth to have a listen underneath. Sounds to me like it is where the right hand driveshaft comes out. Anyone had this bearing fail ? Do I remember an article in 1 of the mags showing how to change the driveshaft support bearings (did I dream that ?) Anyone know of any info how to do the job/can it be done in situ ? Any help greatly appreciated.
