Hi all,
Firstly I,d like to say hello to all members. I have been reading the forum for a while and have now bought a 2001 td4 es. ( I was almost put off after reading some of the posts, but took the plunge anyway) During the first week I suspected the vcu unit was seized and after reading a tip, in the forums, about marking the vcu with two lines and then driving around for a while , I then noticed the lines never moved. Back to the dealer and a new unit was fitted. Now three point turns etc. are free of windup. Thanks to the forum for this tip.
I have a question about the fbh, after long or short trips it runs after the enginge stops, can they stick on and if so how would this effect mpg. I,m getting about 33mpg with very careful driving.

Hi and welcome to the loony zone. Shame about your choice of vehicle. But hello anyway.

You don't say if you have a manual or an auto? If it's an auto 33mpg is about right. If you have a manual then the mpg is a bit low. I don't make an effort to drive economically (but I don't thrash it either!) and I get 38-40mpg on average.

Cheers

Hello fellow south walian...Think you made the best choice in the freeelander line up. I have had my l series now for 3 yrs and Ok i have had a few teething problems but all relatively easy to rectify.
I agree with rriggs, if its not an auto mpg does sound a little low, im normally getting an average of 35/36 out of mine and i know they have slightly lower economy.
Hope this helps
And welcome from Spain.

fbh will affect mpg, and they do run on after switching engine off, they cut in below 5 deg c,
look on here for further info
