Hi everyone, I have just joined LandyZone after a recommendation that your site is one of the best. I have been a lifelong fan of land Rovers but never quite in a position to buy one until now, recently deciding to buy one as a family vehicle. After doing some research I am looking for a 200/300 Tdi , or TD5, 90 or 110. i have a budget of £5000 leaving a £1000 to spend on upgrades. I would be really grateful for any advice on buying and running this type of Land Rover.

I am trying to keep my options open, as I have heard that the 'county' versions are more sought after, and was thinking of buying a van bodied vehicle with the intention of fitting forward facing rear seats and side windows, so would be interested in anybody's experiences in carrying out these tasks.

Just for the record, I spent a good number years working as a vehicle mechanic before retraining in the construction industry. In the not so distant past I have also owned a Jeep Grand Cherokee for several years, which has kept me pretty handy with the spanners.

Cheers

Andy

I think you will find a 90 a little small if you are wanting to carry passengers all the time.
In my opinion forward facing seats in the rear are best with a four door as access is easier.
110 county station wagon is better but expensive, or a 90 with a couple of side facing seats if your passengers are occasional, then you will have room for tools and spares....you will need tools and spares:D
