Hello,

I am after an internal rollcage for my Series III softtop - can't seem to find an off the shelf item also probably v.expensive. Does anyone know someone who builds them as a sideline.
I just want to feel a little protected - hood hoops and windscreen certainly wont stop me being shortened should I end up with the wheels looking skyward!!

Hi M8,

I had a roll bar made for me by a freind for my s3 109. Its just a hoop that goes behind the bulk-head up to the roof level and mounts on the steppy bits inside the body. There are two bars going down at an angle and then a plate either side that the bars are welded onto. Under the body there are six plates about 6" sqare as spreader plates that it is bolted through. It isnt connected to the chassis in anyway but I only wanted it to provide higher level seat belt mounting points and a third mounting point for the middle seat. He charged me £50 for it which I didn't think was expensive for a custom built jobby.

His business is on Canvey Island,Essex. If you wanted to see what he has done and discuss with him what you want, you would need to come down and see him. When the back of the Landy is empty, I'll photograph it and post it here. At the mo the Landy is being used as a temporary shed whilst the builders are in!
