Hello, new to this forum thought I'd join as it seems full of great advice & Northen Irelander seems to know his stuff on this motor:)

I’m looking for somewhere to start on resolving an ongoing problem with our 1.8 freelander, had it nearly a year & covered 15,000 miles (the wife has, I drive a van:rolleyes:) Its always had a on & off (intermitting) flat spot around 2500 rpm, its like its starving of fuel then around 3000rpm takes off, although sometimes it just keeps holding back like the timing is out or maybe the vcu is seizing & dragging the wheels.

I just can’t put my finger on the fault, it had the headgasket done 3 year ago & never loses a drop of water or overheats & loves the motorway driving:car:?? but when your driving local, knocking about it runs like sh*t.

I’d rather sort myself & save on garage bills, gonna do the tippex test on the vcu although I don’t think its that as tyre wear was quite even on the old tyres as I’ve just put 4 new ones on & serviced it. Are they any sensors I could replace or clean?
