Had an issue with opening disco 2 and starting for a few months now.

Started after a service. Has suffered from water ingress at headlining - keyfob has to be held directly at window to open. Loss of range. Replaced key battery. No improvement.

Also intermittent starting issue. Dash lights coming on but no noises. After several attempts it starts.

Had new starter fitted today. No better. Then replaced delay. Seemed better but didn't start again tonight.

It's doing my head in. This d2 is used as a paramedic response vehicle and it really doesn't look good if it doesn't start straight away!

I've trawled previous threads but none the wiser.

Thanks in anticipation.

As your immobiliser receiver is in the headling I'm expecting you to have a lightbulb moment any second now.;)

I feared that might be the issue. Pricey fix then!

I wasn't sure because its intermittent and it eventually starts after sometimes two attempts other times many more attempts.

Sometimes it will refuse to start having walked away from the vehicle for a few minutes without locking it. Is this still likely to point towards the receiver?

Sorry-I'm not technically/mechanically minded.

the receiver may be salvageable if the damage is minimal it may be possible to clean repair and lacquer with electronic spec lacquer.

Update to this issue - everytime it doesn't start (Normally when locked/unlocked or walked away from vehicle and left for a few mins) if I press the open button on keyfob 5 times quickly and then give it a go it works.

Does that help the diagnosis?

Sounds like the fob is needing re-synching each time
