Hi one and all, been lurking for a while looking for ideas to try and resolve this but have just joined to give the old beast one last chance before i crush it
Normally I'm on the morris minor board - hey at least youve got a sporting chance with an old fashioned engine :)

3.5 EFI Old D reg thats got a real attitude problem when it comes to starting.
Its a scabby old farm runabout, but the engines only done 50k miles and when it is running is rather sweet. (its a fast road modded engine, uprated suspesion etc but not here nor there to the starting problem)

Anyway, decided a couple of weeks ago to try once and for all to get it running again as theres work it can be doing. Spent a week faffing about with this and that to no avail. Left it a few days and had a brainwave, pumped out all of the fuel via the cold injector pipe, stuck a couple of gallons in of fresh from the pump and bingo it started first time.

Thinking all was well used it everyday and if not used it started it a couple of times whilst passing it.
Did same yesterday and it started but was misfiring, thought it was just damp getting in but at least it started and thought no more of it.
Today put another fresh gallon in, tried to start it and it's exactly back to how it was - turns on the starter sounds as if its firing on 1 cyl and thats as good as it gets.

Sparks good at the plugs, dizzy fine, rotor arm fine, coil fine, ht leads fine.
Theres a ton of cranking amps as its got a HUGE tractor battery sat in the passenger footwell plumbed in directly to the terminal leads.
Sprayed up the exposed relays none of which 'looked damp' so i know its not the fuel i know its not a spark getting there.
Try it for a couple of minutes and smells flooded - fuel pumps running on the start so assume theres fuel there.

Only things i can possibly think of are that the plugs are way too old (baked them in oven before doing the fuel draining) or the ecu is temperamental.
Might add that this isnt the first winter its done this to me either.

I'm pretty much on a budget of zero, just dont like to be beat like this, the annoyance factor is seriously the worst part, that and if it cant be relied on it cant do the lugging of stuff its needed for.

So anyone have any ideas what i ought to try next?

Cheers
