Hi what do you need to tell the insurance about as far as mods . DEF 300tdi 1996 . for example

boost alloys
spots
A-bar
steering wheel
slick shift
tree/rock sliders
silicon hoses

do i need to declare ???????

I done a quote for mods the other day, suspension, braided lines, wheels tyres, roof rack, lights ect ect
quoted m 2000 quid then I done a quote with no mods came back at 250 with windscreen cover, legal aid
including, breakdown the works tis a fkn joke. Time to look else where it would be good to know who's using
what insurance company & prices for mods.

Performance direct 9 points, disco 200tdi engine swap from 2.5td, change from commercial to County, forward facing rear seats. £300 fully comp, windscreen, breakdown, legal. No car alarm or immobiliser.

The engine swaps don't matter as much as its still a 2.5, interesting you have 9 points though.
Its all the add on gear they seam to not like it must make them more desirable to the sticky fingered types.

I'm with NFU, I declared side rear windows fitted and 4 x inward facing seats, was told as they aren't performance enhancements there will be no effect on the premium.

Engine swaps do matter, because of the power increase. I had to send proof of the engine change and everything.

My last early defender was converted & from a 2.5na to a 300tdi & my insurance didn't bother
said as it was the same 2.5 capacity & no extra fee either.:)

WHAT !!!!! they can all come off if thats the case .

Whats the score if you buy one with boost alloys fitted , rock sliders . spots . Rock sliders and spots is pretty obvious i guess , but wheels and tyres how would joe bloggs know any difference .

You technically should inform them of anything that is not factory fitted, whether you fitted them or not.

Bling puts up your insurance because the vehicle is more likely to be nicked. It also decreases the resale value. Factory spec is best.
But spots and side bars only take 30 mins to remove , if i ever sold it otherwise its stock apart from landrover alloys + tyres . If i need a cheap pair of old steels got be put on .
