Once again another insurance thread, sorry for this.

I do online quote with Adrian Flux (AF) and they email me a prive for £530.

I call AF to check price to take out the insurance. AF goes through details and tells me the actual price is £1600...

Their reason for this increase is i have made 4 claims in the last 5 years against third party who hit my cars.

They told me many insurers will not insure me due to the 4 claims even tho i am not at fault... and still have 4 years NCB.

SO, how can i get insured cheaper?

AF told me i cant not tell them they claims as they can check on a database and if i park on a drive way it will help lower price, problem is i dont have a drive way.

Anyone here have any realistic idea?

Cheers

Well Aaron there is a saying; Life is a bitch and then you die:D

There's your answer. Build a driveway.

impossible in portsmouth mate, worst thing about living in a city but even then i cant imagine it wont make much difference.

On the other note, i done a quote with mother as main driver, my self as named driver and declared my claims and the price was £151 for the year, so going to get mum to call up tomo night and check it out for me :)

Yeh i will use the jeep but not every day plus i have my own car, own policy so its all legal :)

building a drive wont drop it back to 530. Shop around someone sensible will cover ya.Also AF give a discount for being on here

oh really? Cool, will let AF know i am a user of landy zone then, going to ring them again tomo and try and sort out a fair price.

What other companies do you recommend?

I would avoid online quotes (and comparison websites) and try another couple of specialist 4x4 insurance brokers over the phone, then try the NFU.
I`ve had good experience with Sureterm and Enterprise on my LSE and I find the NFU are usually very sensible and easy to deal with, and surprisingly competitive on my Defender 110.
Even though your claims are "no fault" claims they will still attract a loading on the premium.

if you insure it for your mum with you as a named driver then you drive it as the main driver you'll invalidate your insurance and you've basically wasted £150 + got yourself in a load of **** for driving an uninsured vehicle.

as suggested ring the specialists - specialists don't do online stuff - so you have to ring - but - you can get excellent deals - my landy is £100 to insure fully comp, unlimited mileage with the extras on it (winches, etc.) TD5 disco is £300 with one accident against my name and spitfire is £140.

If only it were the case with me a couple of weeks ago :(. Although they didn't give a sensible price I have to say that NFU were more than helpful. AF won't touch any original 110 station wagon prior to the Td5 anymore (i.e. anything with >8 seats) due to the "increased liability" of the extra seats.

Gone back to unmodified for a year and give it another go next year to put the tools back on it.

Yeh i have rang AF direct and with third party cover i got a quote for £960, which is ridiculous. My astra coupe tubo is cheaper to insure. I am going to ring sureterm and NFU next but like AF told me even tho the accidents were not my fault it will affect my premium... its unfair imo. Cheers Ian

Yeh i cant be a named driver as i am under 25 and their reason is due to people looking for cheaper ways to insure younger drivers! i understand their concern but you would of thought as i have 4 years NCB i would be exempt from this?

If you say you also have a car, and you insure the second car in your mams name, and you are the main driver, you'll be insured on your first car's insurance, but only for third party.
