I`m planning a trip to Tunisia with my Disco TD5, having done a similar expedition to the desert wastes and dunes of Morocco.

Does anyone have recent experience of taking a vehicle into Tunisia, with particular reference to MOTOR INSURANCE. Most UK insurers won`t cover Tunisia, but I`m told that it is possible to buy motor insurance upon entering, to meet legal requirements in case I get stopped by Tunisian rozzers. Which, from previous experiences in Morocco and Turkey, is a distinct possibility.

Will be entering Tunisia at Tunis port, by sea from Sicily.

Interested to hear the replies as also considering the same - saying that a few years ago I drove to Switzerland to run in my defender (that took a while at 50) and my green card had amongst other countries Tunisia which surprised me...
