I went online earlier today to get insured on my defender 90, I found a decent quote from aviva and decided to go ahead with purchasing it.
I put in my details and payment info and selected pay monthly which I had to put down a £305 deposit.
I clicked pay now and the page returned back and said payment declined. I was really confused so I tried again and no luck.
I decided to phone my bank and see why and they said that aviva have taken the £305 but I haven't got a policy with them.
then i phoned aviva and they said that they have no record of any payment even though my bank have said that they aviva has my money!

What are my rights when it comes to something like this?
What could I threaten them with to sort themselves out?
And now I have no insurance, so no car and I can't get to college or work.

Sorry for the long story but I hope some of you can help me

ask the bank to withdraw the payment made, we had to before and it was sorted pretty quick, cant remember the reason now but its worth a try.
also the bank should have a details of the payment so even if the bank cant do it the insurance company will have to pay it back.
good luck

Cheers for the reply. The bank can't cancel the payment because it has already been authorised and they've told me to wait till Friday before I can do anything about it. But is there any legal action I could take against them? Because I'm not going to be able to make it to college and I have to rearrange travel to get to work

The issue is not with the bank its with the insureance company. Tell em youve paid and you want the cover youve paid for.

yeah i would call them and tell them you want the cover, if the person you talk to tells you there is nothing they can do ask to speak to some one higher up, you have paid they should cover you.
