None of the insurance companies used by my broker know about them.

How do I get cover please?

Or is it simply get the new one painted up to look old?

Why would you tell them?
All you have done is change a bolt on part, ok it's a large bolt on part but that's it.
Would you tell them if you had a rear section welded in?

Tend to agree with the above. Its not a modification, its repair/replacement. You wouldnt tell them about new calipers or a pas box. Why this? Just because its large change.

Unless you want it listed for agreed value then id been looking at a new insurer.

Last year my daughter had a 'CatGuard' fitted after having had her catalytic converter nicked for the second time and the Insurance Crib Sheet Reader kept asking her if it boosted the horsepower output coz they'd never heard of any bolt on guard for anything ... she drives a Toyota Prius Plus ...

I was with LV for years, when I informed them of a chassis change they cancelled the policy even though it's a Marsland chassis.
Lots of insurer's wouldn't cover me.
In the end I went with Adrian Flux.

As above, it's because they don't understand what it means so the computer says "no"

l tried to register side steps on my Defender as it was listed as a "modification" and after much discussion with the girl at AF and her leaving me on hold for a while, eventually she said it was added..... it came through as "side skirts" on the policy!

l called them back and tried to explain it but eventually gave up.

The insurance companies were worried about liability and stuff like that, but no one knew what to do.

I brought it up for valuation reasy

And NFU wanted an Engineers Report to make sure the snorkel was fitted correctly !!!

What is the value on a good D2 £6k?
I imagine a galv chassis might add a grand or two as long as the rest is good..
Unless you have agreed value the market value is all over the place for a D2.
