Hi guys,
I've just bought a 52 plate freelander td4 es 5 door off the father-in-law, its a tidy car, 144k miles but it has wanted for nothing and has a full service history and an A4 file full of receipts.

Anyways, when I've put the headlights on, there appears to be a bulb or two out behind the speedo and tacho. I can see four screws under the front of the binnacle, is it just a case of removing these to get the clocks off or am I being a tad optimistic? Any help would be great.

:)

Welcome. I see you introduced yourself which is a nice start.

Yes it is quite easy in fact. If I recall there are 4 screws holding the surround which comes off first and then two more holding in the instrument cluster. You can then just unclip the instrument panel to change bulbs. I was pleasantly surprised at how straightforward it was. Good luck

Gareth,

Thank you VERY much for that.:) Saw that loads of people had viewed my query and thought I may have been asking something a little dumb.

Time to go and order some bulbs.

After a quick browse through the galleries, I think an A-bar, some spots and a set of facelift sport alloys may have to go on the shopping list. :D

Be carefully you don't scratch the screen with the metal brackets if you leave them attached to the actual gauge unit when you are wiggling it around to try and unplug it.....

Cheers zDomz, I'll try to be dainty with it. :)

Love your hippo by the way..... I presume you've been asked a lot, is that a custom light bar??

Thanks... :D it looks a bit different again from the pictures as I now have a soft bullbar, OE spots, and OE bumper fogs!

yeah the light bar is somthing cobbled together outta some scrap metal (no not a defender). SES88 is looking at replicating the G4 bar for the 3dr. Which looks even better than mine!

Well, I took your advice guys. Took my time and removed the whole top cowl off the clocks before I fitted the new bulbs. Even managed to vet the little green jonnies off and re-use them. :)

As my hippo has roof rails and bars, I might have a play around with my old rally car fogs and see how they look.......

First though, time to get the drivers doorcard off and get this speaker fixed.
