Hello NelleT,
Where are you buying it from and how old is it?
I suppose you have the first port of call AA / RAC , as I believe they both do pre purchase inspections.
If not buying from a LR specialist, maybe you could ask a local indie specialist to have a look over it. In which case I would be looking for one local to me who I would be using if needed for any work on it to build a relationship. If you are looking specifically for a local company maybe a town name would be a good idea.
Buying a Defender can be a nightmare.
Other than that TBH I am not sure.
Good luck.
Cheers
It's Dec 2007 and in Wales so a long way from me. Think I'll go with the RAC, but will look for a local specialist. Thanks for your help! N
Thanks Neilly, I went with warranty wise in the end. Collecting it this week so I'll know better then. Fingers crossed! There are a few pointers on what to check here to give you a heads up. Post#21 iirc.

You can take a warranty out with them but it's not incl in the inspection itself. I've had to phone then a couple of times and they've been helpful. Feels like a slightly smaller company so a bit more personal. They don't include a phone call from the engineer like some do but they contacted him straight away with a query I had.Ok, how did you find the service and the report? Have never used a company to actually check a vehicle so am interested how you found the experience? Does the name imply they also give a warranty with the inspection?
Hope it is all good and you have a nice surprise waiting for you when you pick it up.
Cheers
I don't suppose you know the diameter of a C type steering wheel do you. 2007 90 SW. Ordering a Disklok and can't decide on M or L?
Very true...thanks!Sorry I do not, maybe worth starting a new post in the Defender section. Security is always a high priority on Landies. I would also suggest a tracker and a pedal lock. But as with all security it only works if you fit it.
