Hi chaps, the time has come to replace the rear brakes on swambos D1 300TDi. It is a 1994 "M" reg.

The disks are badly scored and showing poor surface area contact akin with poorly calipers in need of replacement / refurbishment.

My plan is to replace the disks, calipers and pads all in one go.

Indeed when we were out in it yesterday there was definately that metal on metal sound emanating from the rear.

Before I make any purchases from Craddocks etc I just want to confirm if all varients have the same calipers etc? or is this a buying nightmare as with the 110 ?

Oooh 94 cross over year!!!

You need to get your head under there and check the bolts on the calipers, if they are a 12 point headed bolt then all good for metric, six sided bolt means ealier imperial calipers from 200Tdi era.

If you have the thinner 24 spline metric drive flange bolts of 17mm then all good, failing that you have the fat 10 spline drive flanges with 9/16 bolts then imperial with different bolts on the calipers.

Cheers DD69, just had a quick crawl and they are the splined metric bolts.

Thankfully I orderred the calipers for the 93 onwards off Paddocks this afternoon.

As for brake pipes I suspect it woud be a good idea, with luck I may blag some new kunifer brake pipe off Stutab when we get round to it soon.

RTV Sunday and we have to do some weding on his missus D1 V8 XS for its MOT in the next couple of weekends.
